Pierce – The American College of Greece is grateful to Lloyd’s Register Foundation for supporting the creation of the first Maritime Academy for children at ACG’s new Pierce Elementary School.
The Pierce Maritime Academy program will be implemented by Pierce Elementary School Faculty in collaboration with ACG’s Center of Excellence in Logistics, Shipping, and Transportation. Its mission is to inspire the next generation of maritime professionals from an early age through experiential learning related to Greece’s heavyweight shipping industry.
The Academy will run as a six-month pilot program, targeting fifth and sixth graders and addressing basic shipping concepts across disciplines. Grammar and literature, STEM, music, English, and visual arts courses will integrate shipping curriculum principles and support students in interacting directly with the maritime industry.
