With Gratitude to Christos and Eleftheria Merkouris

Take-a-Seat!

What is your connection with The American College of Greece and the Aghia Paraskevi Campus?

I am a graduate of The American College of Greece (Deree ’06), having worked in parallel in the Computer labs of Aghia Paraskevi Campus for almost 2.5 years during my studies. Currently, I am an active member of the ACG Alumni.

What piqued your interest in the “Take-a-Seat” campaign, and why did you decide to participate?

As a student, I remember spending half of the day in Agia Paraskevi Campus, starting early in the morning, when I was using the sports facilities, continuing with the opening of the Computer labs where I was working and supporting a lot of my classmates who needed assistance. My daily schedule was completed by attending several classes, studying, and completing the exercises inside the Campus.

During the breaks I was watching a lot of students, who were training and I knew since then that most of them wanted to pursue it as professionals,  thus I felt the need to contibute to this initiative.

I hope my donation will have a profound impact on the student community, fostering a sense of unity, pride, and well-being and the creation of a welcoming environment where students can unwind, socialize, and build lasting connections.

The renovated stadium will transform the campus into a dynamic and lively space. Beyond being a venue for sports events, it will become a central hub for student gatherings, fostering a vibrant campus culture.

Finally, I feel the need to express my deepest gratitude to my parents, Christos and Eleftheria Merkouris, who supported me by offering me the resources and the opportunity to study in such a reputable academic institution as the American College of Greece.

How do you envision the stadium five years from now and how do you hope your donation will have contributed?

My hope is that the stadium, five years from now, will be a dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable space that serves as the heart of the academic community. I envision it as a testament to the collective support and commitment of donors, leaving a lasting legacy that positively influences the experiences of students and the entire community for years to come.
