Lecture Description

Play Therapy International (PTI) – the International Society for Play and Creative Arts Therapies– is a not for profit organization dedicated to promoting the use of play and creative arts as ways of enabling children to reach their full potential. PTI, with its Affiliates is the largest international, pro-active professional organization supporting play therapy, filial play and therapeutic play. It promotes the use of therapeutic play skills in a variety of professions and settings. In this 2-hour Master Class, participants will have the opportunity to obtain a better idea about:

  • what is Play Therapy,
  • what is the Play Therapy International (PTI) model,
  • how the model works,
  • what are its theoretical pillars,
  • how and in which cases it can be applied, and
  • what are the results of this model

Nellie Boukouvala

Nellie Boukouvala is working therapeutically in her private practice in Athens, Greece. She is working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, parents, families and groups. She has completed her studies in Person Centred Counselling with Strathclyde University, in Play Therapy with Canterbury Christ Church University, in EMDR and CRM (Comprehensive Resource Model) trauma therapy, in EFT couples therapy (Emotional Focused Couples Therapy by Sue Johnson), in Circle of Security Parenting and Intervention (COS-P and COS-I), in Dimentional Maturation Model (DMM by Patricia Crittenden) etc.

As a Certified Play Therapist and Certified Supervisor, Nellie founded Play Therapy Greece in Greece on 2014 and as a Certified trainer she started training students in Play Therapy, both levels, Certificate and Diploma. She is also a Certified trainer in Creative Supervision. Since 2015, Nellie has been trained in Dr. Mills’s StoryPlay® model and is accredited by her as a trainer, facilitator and consultant (supervisor). Especially for children she has completed her training and she is about to get her final certification in Theraplay.

Nellie has been also trained in Filial Play Coaching, Paediatric Sleep Training for Professionals, SI – Sensory  Integration for Therapists, in DDP attachment therapy (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy by Daniel Hughes), and in several assessment on attachment like: The Meaning of the Child (MotC) and Marshak Interaction Method (extra 4 days for MIM). Nelllie’s long experience on trainings and her constant professional development through different models and approaches in therapy, is a guarantee for the quality of the trainings that she provides. She is a full member of Play Therapy International (PTI) and founding member for Hellenic Association of Person Centered and Experiential Approach (HAPCEA).
