Overview

This course will focus on Media Content Creation and will show participants how to use their Audiovisual Translation background (for any participants who have completed an Overview of Audiovisual Translation seminar in the past) and/or their content writing skills for advertisement creation, accessibility content, theatre surtitles, subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, dubbing, gaming, and AI content editing. The course is very practice-based, and the participants will have the opportunity to meet people from the respective industries and learn skills which will be very useful in new markets.

Who is this for?

The course is for people who would like to add to their qualifications and find a job in the industry in Greece and abroad, using it either as an extra income or their main occupation.

The introduction of streaming platforms, such as Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and most recently Disney+, has created the need for subtitlers who work on numerous productions for each company. However, the need for skilled professionals does not stop there. In a constantly changing market, people with a broad range of skills, are much more likely to be hired in this industry as new positions.

Entrance requirements: The participants need to have a very good command of both English and Greek and good computer skills. A personal laptop is required for all sessions.

Why attend?

Being very focused on practice, this course will develop skills the participants will need in a growing market, which shifts from translation only to content creation in a broader sense. The rapid introduction and growing use of AI has also created the need for professionals who know the basic principles and are trained to assess, edit and confirm any AI content. What is more, the traditional skills of translation and editing of audiovisual material will be combined with accessibility and media content creation, making this course an advanced practice on future uses of what we now know as Audiovisual Content. Finally, the contact of participants with people from the respective industries will enhance their realization and visualization of how this content is used and what horizons it might create for their future.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. translate and proofread AV accessibility projects
