With over 25 years of experience, Dimitris Michopoulos is a results-driven leader, well known for his thought leadership and his proven track record in strategic management.

Focusing on boosting and maintaining sustainable, profitable growth in private and public organizations, he has built and inspired senior-level teams which have delivered impressive results locally and internationally.

Dimitris joined MullenLowe Athens in November 2020. Previously, he had been heading the Weber Shandwick operation in Greece, as its Managing Director, since February 2014.

From 2012 to 2014, he was an advisor to the Management of OPAP, overseeing the marketing and corporate communications. Prior to that, for nine years, Dimitris was Corporate Affairs Director at Vodafone in Greece. His professional career started with five years at Unilever. He has also served as General Manager of Communications and Marketing at the Mediterranean Games Committee.

An inspirational speaker and founder of the thought creativity doctrine, Dimitris has delivered distinct speeches at international conferences and lectured in management at Deree – The American College of Greece, while he has attended leadership courses at the IMD Business School.

Dimitris holds an MSc in Quality Management, a BSc in General Business & Management and Organizational Behavior, and a Board Practice & Directorship Development Program Certification.

He is a member of the CEO Clubs Board of Directors as the VP for Reputation and a Founding Partner of Your Directors Club.

Q.: Which is your fondest memory from your time at Deree?

When I received the Dean’s Award for the Class of 1993 at the Graduation Ceremony, I felt so proud!

Q.: What do you miss most from your days at Deree?

My friends

Q.: If you could go back in time, is there anything that would you do differently?

I would have spent more time on campus.

Q.: Where was your favorite spot on campus?

The Registrar’s office.

Q.: Who was your favorite teacher and why?

Dr. Mouzopoulos, Professor of Total Quality Management – it was an innovative discipline at that time! We were the first in Europe to be exposed, at an undergraduate level, to a field that later became a natural way of management to most ‘best in class’ companies.

Q.: After graduation, have you maintained a relationship with your school and classmates?

I am still very close with our school because I have committed both myself and Weber Shandwick to supporting the MA degree program in Strategic Communication & Public Relations and its students, by offering our knowledge, expertise, and passion for best in class PR via a signed MoU

Q.: Looking back, how did your time at Deree help you become the person you are today?

Our school opened my wings and taught me to trust them.

Q.: What advice would you give a new Deree student?

Dream – believe – fight – celebrate! Most of all, dream!
