Donations Campaign: Supporting Kids and Pets at Schisto Refugee Camp

The Environmental Studies Society and the Sociology Society launched a donations campaign for the children and animals of the Schisto Refugee & Asylum Seekers’ Camp in Schisto, Perama.

The campaign started on April 3 and ended on May 12, 2023, when the two societies, with the support of the Center of Excellence in Sustainability (CoES), scheduled a visit to the refugee camp to deliver twenty-six boxes with school items, books, shoes and pet food that have been donated.

During the visit to Schisto, the ACG students and their advisors, Dr. Stella Apostolaki and Dr. Chryssa Zachou, had the chance to be guided to the camp’s facilities by the employees of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum and the camp’s Education Officer, and to interact with its residents, and the children of the camp’s kindergarten.

The donation campaign and the visit to the camp signify the start of a long-term relationship and interaction between ACG (the two societies, the relevant programs and the CoES) and the Schisto Camp, aiming to support its residents through educational activities for kids and adults, donations, and pet adoptions.
