The first exhibition of the Graphic Design Department at Deree came to fruition. On May 15 and 16, 2023, more than 100 digital and printed (2D and 3D) works were presented in the Art Hall of St. George Lycabettus Hotel (Kolonaki, Athens).
Students showcased their talents in a range of applications, including logo and typography design, publication design, environmental design and branding, as well as social awareness projects with a human-centered approach throughout the design process. Our students’ sketchbooks demonstrated every step of the process and decision-making to creatively address social, environmental and commercial challenges and problems.
The projects included topics from both commercial and cultural life (e.g., corporate identity design for businesses, product packaging design, promotion for job fairs, book festivals, alphabet design, and calendars), as well as topics related to the inclusion of vulnerable social groups in everyday life (such as visually impaired people and refugees), and the promotion of diversity and mental health.
With attention to detail and empathy for the client and the audience, the students showed that the Graphic Design profession touches and concerns a wide range of applications and activities and through a methodical, innovative, ethical and environmentally conscious design, can play an important role in the production of sustainable businesses as well as private and public cultural institutions and cultural institutions (e.g., museums), and have a positive impact on the actions and quality of life of all our fellow human beings.
We were delighted to see the gallery full of design enthusiasts who showed interest in learning more about our students’ works, as well as relatives, friends and colleagues from our professional circles, who shared ideas and thoughts for collaboration.
We would like to thank everyone for their participation and positive feedback!
