October is just around the corner and so are the exciting events the DEREE community has planned for the month. Academic events and fun activities, informational sessions and insightful lectures, all are included in this month’s calendar.
The month kicks off with the Fall Festival, (September 28-October 2), during which the multicultural clubs and societies of DEREE come together, organize various activities and present their work.
Next up: Art History Week, October 1-2. The 2-day lecture event will feature successful professionals of the art world who will be discussing the multiple careers in the field of Art History, varying from curating to art journalism.
During October 8-9, DEREE will host the 4th International Conference on Social Responsibility, Ethics & Sustainable, which will focus on corporate social responsibility insights and practices. The event will feature the acclaimed professor CB Bhattacharya, PhD, who will deliver the keynote speech.
A few days later, October 12-15, the campus hosts Career Days 2015, celebrating 40 years since the establishment of the institution. Students will attend workshops on how to present their CV and have interviews with some of the biggest companies in the business world including Coca-Cola and Nestlé!
On October 15, the Blackbox Theater will host a contemporary dance performance in cooperation with the Norwegian Embassy; the Banoptikon performance; an interdisciplinary project aiming to promote awareness of the experience immigrants are living in Athens through the combination of dance and video material. A panel discussion will follow, featuring artists and sociology experts who will discuss the role of arts in social responsibility.
Also, on October 20-22, the Health & Social Awareness Club will be hosting the Support People with Disabilities Week with the support of various NGOs. Events will include lectures and experiential activities.
On October 22, the International Campus Sustainability Day @ DEREE will give you the opportunity to meet the recognized research professor and environmental and social justice activist Dr. Robert Gottlieb, and celebrate the achievements towards sustainability in higher education institutions.
On October 24, StartSmart will take place on campus. It’s a one-day MIT Enterprise Forum Greece conference that inspires and informs technology entrepreneurs to succeed faster and smarter. StartSmart aims to refine the Greek entrepreneurial ecosystem and help it grow.
Finally, Halloween celebration will haunt the main corridor at the end of the month. Stop treating and start tricking by participating in the Halloween festivities, on October 29, including a Halloween makeup booth run by the DEREE Gazette!
