Dear DEREE student,
As we look forward to the Fall semester, which starts September 9, I would like to inform you about some important developments:
- Reduced deposit for early fall registration
- The DEREE Guarantee – fixed tuition for the duration of your studies
- Increase in financial aid
- New flexible tuition payment plans
- New free bus routes to and from our campus
Below you will find more detailed information about these developments, which I hope will be helpful to you.
You are a valued member of The American College of Greece family and I encourage you to connect with me at [email protected] about any issue or suggestion you might have concerning student life, job opportunities, or financial aid.
I wish you a restful summer and I look forward to seeing you on campus in September.
Dimitrios Andreou, Ph.D.
Vice President of Enrollment and Administration
The American College of Greece

EARLY REGISTRATION
It is important for you and for us that you register early, before the end of July. It will allow you to find more easily the courses you want, at the hours that you prefer. By registering early you will also avoid the inconvenience of the late August/early September rush. Early registration also helps us allocate resources better and offer all students an optimal schedule.
To make early registration easier, we have reduced by half the amount you must put on deposit if you register for more than 1 course. The other half is due at the end of August.
TUITION/FEES & FINANCIAL AID
Tuition at DEREE will remain unchanged for the 2013-14 academic year. Moreover, in order to remove uncertainty about future tuition costs, the Board of Trustees of The American College of Greece has approved the DEREE Guarantee: for any current or new student, tuition will remain the same throughout their studies, up to a maximum of 4 years, provided that you remain continuously enrolled during the Fall and Spring semesters.
Also, the College is instituting flexible tuition payment plans, which allow you and your family to spread out the cost of attending DEREE over the academic year. My colleagues at the Business Office will be glad to discuss such plans with you.
As you can imagine, demand for scholarships and financial aid has increased significantly this year. In response, the College has increased the amount of money dedicated to such aid: for the academic year 2013-14, ACG will offer approximately €2 million in financial aid, up from €1.7 million in 2012-13.
This week, those of you who have applied for financial aid will be notified by SMS and email of the results of your application. The Financial Assistance Office will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
We are in the process of finalizing the fee structure for next year. We plan to lower some fees (e.g. late registration and course change fees) to offset the impact of a new resit fee. A resit fee is standard practice in other institutions in the OU system, and our experience has highlighted the need for this to assist us in planning the number of resit exams.
Ε-BOOKS
We have also been working with the College’s textbook suppliers to pilot an e-book program, probably in the spring semester. We will communicate to you the details of these changes as soon as they are finalized.
