Which program is right for me?

The MS in Counseling Psychology and Psychotherapy program is ideal for psychology graduates and practitioners who wish to pursue careers as psychotherapists or mental health counselors. Graduates of the program enter employment in a wide range of contexts, including: counseling in organizational or agency settings (mental health agencies/hospital units and education); counseling service management; counseling training; and, following further experience, private practice.

The MA in Applied Educational Psychology program prepares students to work primarily in schools, in organizations serving school-age populations, and in private practice, ideal for individuals who want to work directly with children and adolescents. Combining the two fields of study – educational and counseling psychology – will support a career as an educator or consultant and advance the opportunity to participate in academic research projects.

How soon will I be ready to practice?

The programmes offer rigorous academic and research training as well as opportunities to build your professional skills so that you will be immediately ready to practice.

The MS in Counseling Psychology and Psychotherapy Practicum Placement offers 700 hours of practical training undertaken within counseling agencies and/or organizations from our network of collaborators that offer counseling as part of their services. The practicum is supervised by licensed psychologists at the local training partners and by faculty supervisors. It enables you to gradually further develop your skills as a counselor by working with actual clients and gaining experience from working alongside and under the supervision of experienced colleagues. You have the option to acquire training experience in a variety of settings with different populations.

The MA in Applied Educational Psychology Field Placement provides you with the opportunity to function in a professional setting under supervision. The placement may occur in a kindergarten, elementary, high school, or community setting and thereby allows you to develop a professional role and actively participate in multidisciplinary settings.
