About the event

Combining Nostos’ 25-year field experience with academic research, the aim of the three-day (3) seminar is to explore aspects of immigrants’ integration in the specific urban environment and to address the various challenges involved in the process of their inclusion over time.

The seminar consists of three afternoon sessions on the social integration of third country nationals in the Athenian urban environment from the 1990s to the present.

Three films of contemporary Greek cinema, which depict different phases of immigrant experience in Athens, are used as a common point of reference for critical discussions on the “diachronic” relationship between migration and the city. The film screenings will be followed by presentations of researchers, migration experts and practitioners.

The seminar is addressed to social scientists, students of social sciences and humanities, teachers, social workers, professionals of migrant integration structures and services.

A certificate of attendance will be issued to those who attend all 3 sessions.
