About the event
“Geopolitics Unveiled” is a panel discussion where alumni, academics, and other experts will shed light on how geography and politics come together to influence key areas such as Investments, Energy, and Climate Change.
Engage in a thought-provoking discussion and gain a deeper understanding of the global landscape.
The Greek chapter consists of 25 actively engaged alumni and seasoned professionals and is a vibrant hub where graduates, united by shared experiences and aspirations, come together to re-connect and engage amongst them and with their alma mater through the organization of events and other meet ups.

Dr George Dikaios, Pierce 2010 Alumnus, is a postdoctoral researcher and an adjunct lecturer at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He is also a Senior Research Fellow of the UNESCO Chair on Climate Diplomacy and a Research Fellow at the Institute of European Integration and Policy and the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). His research has been funded by the NKUA, the A. G. Leventis Foundation, and the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (SYLFF). His work revolves around (European) climate diplomacy and policies, shipping and maritime policies, and Greek and EU politics; it is published in scholarly journals. He has studied political science and international relations at the NKUA and Leiden University (The Netherlands). His book EU Climate Diplomacy Towards the IMO and ICAO: Normative without Power is expected in Spring 2024 by Palgrave Macmillan. His articles appear often in the press.
Dr. Konstantinos Filis, Director of the ACG Institute of Global Affairs and an Associate Professor, where he teaches courses in International Relations and European Affairs.
Dr. Filis is the President of the Foundation for Thracean Art and Tradition and member of Advisory Committee of the Institute of International Relations, Panteion University. He is also an:
- Expert representative of Greece at The European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats (Hybrid CoE)
- An associate Academic Researcher, Centre for Foreign Policy Planning (KESEP), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hellenic Republic
- Energy and Geoeconomics Advisor to the Hellenic Association of Entrepreneurs (2018-present), and
- Member of the Greek-Turkish Forum (2013-present); corresponding Member of the Institute of Energy for South-East Europe (2017-present).
His most recent books/monographs are: “Assertive Patriotism,” “Greece in its Neighbourhood,” “A Closer Look at Russia and its Influence in the World,” “Turkey, Islam, Erdoğan,” and “Refugees, Europe, Insecurity”.
Vassiliki Lazarakou, Pierce Alumna, is Chair of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) and Member of the Board of Supervisors of European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). She has been elected as Member of the Management Board of the ESMA and is chairing ESA’s Joint Sub-Committee on Securitizations.
Dr. Lazarakou is a member of the IOSCO Board for a two-year term (October 2022-October 2024) since HCMC was elected by the 51 members of the of the European Regional Committee (ERC) as their Representative to the IOSCO Board.
She has been re-elected as a member of the Bureau of the Corporate Governance Committee of the OECD for the year 2024.
She has a Doctorate in Law (JSD) from New York University School of Law, New York, U.S.A. and an LLM in International Legal Studies from the same university as well as a bachelor’s in law from Athens University, School of Law. She is a lawyer admitted at both the Athens Bar and the New York Bar Association with expertise in capital markets, M&As, privatizations, corporate and commercial law, and other similar issues. She has worked for more than 20 years as a partner at several law firms and for more than 10 years she headed the relevant Banking, Capital Markets and Finance Department of such firms. From 2012 – 2015 she was the First Vice-Chair of the HCMC.
Theofanis Mylonas is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Eurobank Asset Management M.F.M.C. as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eurobank Fund Management Co (Lux) SA, President of the Group Investment Strategy Committee of Eurobank and member of the Hellenic Fund and Asset Management Association.
In the past he was President and Vice President of the Hellenic Fund and Asset Management Association, Head of Global Markets Trading Division and member of various investment and other committees of Eurobank. He has also served as Assistant General Manager and Co-Head of Global Markets Trading at the Global Markets Trading Division. Mr. Mylonas has held various managerial positions in the Global Markets Division. In addition, he has also worked as Head of Fixed Income Trading – Greece, in the Treasury Dealing Room of Citibank / Schroder Salomon Smith Barney in Greece and the UK.
Mr. Mylonas holds a M.Sc. in Finance from the University of Strathclyde and a High Honours B.Sc. in Business Studies from the University of Buckingham.
Eva Polyzogopoulou, Deree 2005 Alumna: Country Director – Action Aid Hellas.
Eva Polyzogopoulou, has extensive experience in the field of nonprofit institutions and civil society, both in Greece and internationally. Today, she holds the position of General Director at ActionAid Hellas. In the last decade, she was a director of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, having under her responsibility a large part of the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives as well as the evaluation of applications for funding. At the same time, she has collaborated with public and private organizations, such as the General Archives of the State in Athens and the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
Eva is a member of the BMW Foundation’s Responsible Leaders Network and holds an advisory position in selected non-profit organizations. She studied Business Administration at Deree – The American College of Greece, Librarianship, and Information Systems at the University of Western Attica, and holds a master’s degree in Cultural & Creative Industries from King’s College London.
Nikos Tsafos, Pierce 1999 Alumnus, serves as the Chief Energy Adviser to the Prime Minister of Greece. A leading authority on energy, Nikos has worked with companies, banks, and governments in over 30 countries on some of the world’s most complex energy projects. Most recently, he held the Schlesinger Chair for Energy and Geopolitics at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS); he also served on the Climate Advisory Committee of the Export Import Bank of the United States (EXIM). From 2016 to 2019, he was a lecturer at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
Nikos has testified before Congress, the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, the Canadian House of Commons, and the Alaska State Legislature. He has written extensively on energy, including for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, EURACTIV, National Interest, and others. Nikos is a regular commentator on current affairs: he has been quoted in The New York Times, The Financial Times, The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and Bloomberg, and he has appeared on CNN, NBC, the BBC, NPR, Al Jazeera, and other leading media outlets.
He holds a B.A. in international relations and economics from Boston University, and an M.A. in international relations from Johns Hopkins SAIS.
