Interested in learning more about the United States? University students seeking to gain a better understanding of the United States are invited to attend a seminar exploring American politics, economics, society and culture. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the annual American Studies Seminar provides attendees the opportunity to explore issues of interest to the U.S., Greece, and the world.

The 2018 American Studies Seminar’s theme will be: ‘The Use of Soft Power and Public Diplomacy in Diplomatic Relations and Foreign Policy.’ The keynote speaker will be U.S. Expert Dr. Frank Louis Rusciano, Professor of Political Science and Director of Global Studies Program,

Rider University and U.S. Fulbright Scholar Norwegian Nobel Institute. Prominent Greek scholars and academics will also participate in panel discussions.

This year, the American Studies Seminar will focus on the use of soft power and public diplomacy in American diplomatic relations and on the importance of education and academic exchanges, as part of the U.S. Foreign Policy. More specifically, on the first day, the seminar will focus on ‘Defining and Understanding Soft Power and Public Diplomacy’; the second day on ‘Soft Power and Public Diplomacy Today: Current Trends’; and on the third day on ‘The Future of Soft Power and Public Diplomacy – Global Challenges’.

The Seminar will be held from Monday, April 23 to Wednesday, April 25, at 17:30 – 20:30 (every day), at the Alba Graduate Business School, The American College of Greece (6-8 Xenias St., Athens). All lectures will be conducted in English. The admission is free and priority will be given to students. Certificates will be awarded following the seminar upon successful attendance of the three-day seminar.
