The event

This conference organized by B in EU (Jean Monnet Module on the European Union and active EU citizenship for business students: an interdisciplinary approach) in collaboration with “Egg” (enter • grow • go) introduces students in the environment of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship opportunities as they unfold, especially in the context of the functioning of the European Union. The guest speaker, Ms. Roula Bachtalia, Program Manager at EGG, will elaborate on the ‘who’, ‘how’ and ‘when’ in setting up a successful start up. The possibilities for creating value and delivering it to people are endless, as long as you can identify problems that the common man faces and have unique ideas on how to address them. Entrepreneurship opportunities are present everywhere. But what is it exactly, how you should start doing something, when is it the right time and who can help? Roula Bachtalia is working as Program Manager at the “Egg – enter • grow • go“, a vibrant startup ecosystem in Greece that encourage young entrepreneurs to bring innovative ideas & turned them into successful enterprises. The “Egg” Program is the established incubation & acceleration initiative formed by Eurobank, designed and implemented with Corallia.

Roula Bachtalia is an active business person with a solid understanding of the digital business strategy and a tenacious drive to generate new business opportunities. She is working in senior positions in the field of Sales & Marketing for more than 25 years. She has a postgraduate degree (MBA) in Business Administration from the Bath University in UK. Roula Bachtalia is certified marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), certified project manager from the International Project Management Association (IPMA) & EFQM Committed to Excellence validator.

Anna Visvizi, PhD, B-in-EU Jean Monnet Module coordinator (Jean Monnet Module on the European Union and active EU citizenship for business students: an interdisciplinary approach), economist and political scientist, researcher, editor, consultant, is Associate Professor at the School of Business & Economics, Deree – The American College of Greece. 

EGG: Short description

The “Egg – enter • grow • go” is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by Eurobank, designed and implemented in cooperation with Corallia and it is on a mission to enlarge the Greek startup ecosystem in Greece. egg is encouraging young entrepreneurs to bring innovative ideas & turned them into successful enterprises. 90 entrepreneurial teams out of 132 teams turned their idea to business and they formed their legal entity in Greece, working on expanding businesses abroad. At the egg, young entrepreneurs have the opportunity to exploit new funding channels having access to a program with improved qualitative features in line with international standards, based on the experience of the previous five cycles. The secret sauces of the egg initiative consists of a complete funding portfolio, extroversion initiatives for the egg startups & the first footprint on the FinTech market.

B-in-EU short description

B-in-EU is a project that — while compliant with the objectives and priorities of the Jean Monnet Module of the Erasmus+ Programme – aims at strengthening the EU’s resilience by fostering the society’s participation in processes that define and shape the European integration process today. Given the disintegrative tendencies in the EU today and a fading sense of the EU’s relevance that several stakeholders in the member-states face, B-in-EU makes a case that by developing a novel approach to teaching and learning European integration to business students, it is possible to empower them and turn them into dedicated EU citizens, advocates of European integration and supporters of more Europe. Indeed, the great promise that B-in-EU holds is that it will address Greek and international students at Deree-The American College of Greece, an US institution whose proud tradition of inducing social change dates back to 1875. Located in Greece, i.e. a country of the fate’s cross-roads, B-in-EU, to be run by Dr. Anna Visvizi, a seasoned educator, academic and manager, could once again turn Deree into the agent of change in Greece and elsewhere; this time with a view to promoting active European citizenship, raising awareness of the EU’s role in a globalised world, and facilitating future engagement and people-to-people dialogue worldwide.
