The Business English Skills seminar involves 10 topic-based workshops (25 hours of training in total) that focus on the core skills required to communicate with confidence in English in a variety of professional business situations. Each workshop is task-based and skills-based, allowing learners to practice important skills for the workplace.

Who is this for?

The Business English Skills Seminar is for professionals who wish to strengthen their business communications skills and become more confident in conducting business effectively in English in a variety of contexts. It is appropriate for people who have at least an intermediate level of English (B1+).

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Communicate via email more effectively
  • Describe numbers and trends accurately
  • Actively participate in online and face-to-face meetings
  • Structure effective reports using clear and formal language
  • Express business views convincingly
  • Create a positive customer experience by using effective telephone skills and chat support
  • Perform confidently in a job interview (face to face and online)
  • Interpret and evaluate cultural differences so as to enhance communication
  • Build relationships by developing the language skills to socialize and network confidently
  • Deliver effective presentations using appropriate signposting language

Certificate of Participation

In order to be awarded the Certificate of Participation from the School of Graduate and Professional Education, participants need to attend 70% of the course, and complete 7 of the 10 required activities.

Why Attend

The seminar places a strong emphasis on the development of both oral and writing skills, as well as on the language required to complement those skills. The content is topic-based and actively involves the participants in relevant and engaging tasks, designed to provide practical and immediate application of the material studied. 


The seminar runs for 10 consecutive weeks and consists of a 2.5-hour workshop per week (25 contact hours in total).
The workshops take place April 25 – June 27, every Tuesday at 18:00–20:30.

Tuition and Fees

Regular single participant fee: €200
A 10% discount (€180 per participant) is available for companies who register three or more employees, and for members of the ACG community. LAEK is available.

Evangelia Kalianos, MA

Lia is in an Adjunct Instructor in the English for Academic Purposes program at Deree – The American College of Greece. Over the last 17 years, she has trained business English professionals, as well as taught English for Academic Purposes and English for Specific Purposes in a wide range of professional and educational contexts. Apart from training and coaching corporate professionals, she has extensive experience of course design and materials development.

She enjoys teaching business English because she wishes to make a difference in the lives of individuals who are striving to achieve their professional and personal goals.

Lia holds BA (Hons) and MA degrees from University College London (UCL), The University of London. She completed the Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) at International House London.
