Dr. Ilay Romain Ors has been at Deree – ACG since September 2018, teaching at the programs of Sociology, Anthropology, IREA, and International Honors. Dr. Ors is a member of the academic board of the Institute of Global Affairs and a Fellow of the Institute for Hellenic Culture and Liberal Arts at ACG.

Ilay Romain Ors’ research interests include migration, identity politics, social movements, urban studies, and everyday life in Eastern Mediterranean. Among her recent publications are the monograph on the Greek Orthodox community of Istanbul (Rum Polites) titled Diaspora of the City: Stories of Cosmopolitanism from Istanbul and Athens (Palgrave 2018) and a chapter in the edited volume titled Η Νεα Τουρκια εκ των εσω (Sideris 2019).

Dr. Ors is currently a Research Affiliate at Oxford University’s Center of Migration, Policy, and Society while working on her research project funded by the Independent Social Research Foundation. Her forthcoming book titled Waves of Migration in the Aegean is under contract by Berghahn Publishers.
