Eating Shoes. About Performance Making, Risk and Commitment.
What exactly is Performance Making? What are we making, why and how? Having nurtured a global community of new makers on her pioneering MA Performance Making at Goldsmiths for twenty years, Furse draws on this heuristic pedagogic knowledge to provoke questions about independent creation, working under the radar of conventional cultural structures, how to think performance and, in effect, how the Performance Maker prepares.

Performance Making Strategies
This workshop will offer a taste of Furse’s methodology. Starting with the body, moving on to considerations of space, activity will move to image making and meaning, approaching the threshold of compositional strategies. The workshop is for a mixed ability group. The only requirement is curiosity and a willingness to throw yourself into the here and now to see what you might find. Appropriate clothing: loose cotton clothing and bare feet. Maximum number of participants :16
