The American College of Greece (ACG) is seeking an innovative, highly motivated librarian to serve as Electronic Resources and Library Systems Manager for the ACG Library System. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues and vendors to manage the library electronic resources as well as two library services platforms used across ACG’s divisions.
Required Qualifications:
- MLS/MLIS or related Master’s degree
- Solid knowledge and understanding of the life cycle of electronic resources (i.e. acquisitions and licensing, access provision, administration, support, monitoring and evaluation) as well as the various subscription/purchase schemes
- Solid knowledge and understanding of current and emerging library systems, search and discovery tools and services, link resolvers, linking technologies, and authentication systems
- Conceptual and practical knowledge of:
- standards, protocols, and systems such as
- IP and FTP
- OpenURL and Z39.50
- User authentication
- LDAP and Active Directory
- Markup languages (e.g. HTML, XML), JavaScript, Wikis, APIs, etc.
- The administrative functions of proprietary databases

- Ability to collect, analyze, manipulate, and provide meaningful interpretation of data using spreadsheets and data visualization
- Knowledge of copyright and intellectual property issues
- Minimum of 4 years prior experience in managing electronic resources and library systems, ideally in an academic environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with OCLC’s EZProxy
- Familiarity with cataloging and metadata standards preferably, RDA/FRBR, MARC21, as well as classification systems
- Knowledge of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
- Knowledge of Electronic resources management software
- Knowledge of bibliographic utilities such as OCLC

Responsibilities:
Electronic Resources Management
- Organizes, develops and maintains all aspects of the library’s electronic resources including subscription databases, e-books and e-journals, through a variety of subscription schemes as well as open access resources:
- monitoring and supporting ongoing access to electronic resources, troubleshooting and resolving complex access and technical problems
- maintaining data on vendor administration modules (i.e. customizing, branding, etc.)
- serving as liaison to publishers and vendors on issues related to the setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of online resources
- collecting and analyzing usage statistics
- setting up trials to electronic resources
- Sets up and manages remote access and resource linking through EZProxy
- Integrates electronic resources as needed into the library services platforms and discovery layer
- Maintains electronic resource holdings in knowledgebases and manages license agreements
- Participates in electronic resource collection development
- Participates in electronic resource reviews and assessment
Library Systems
- Administers all aspects (setup, customization, updates, etc.) of the two library services platforms (OCLC’s WMS and SoftLink’s Oliver), as well as WorldCat Discovery, the library’s discovery layer across libraries and campuses
- Performs maintenance, development and troubleshooting, implements changes and upgrades and supports users with access problems
- Engages in the user communities of the two platforms
- Trains library staff in the use of the library systems as needed
