In Memory of Tom C. Korologos, Honorary Chairman of the ACG Board of Trustees

Tom Chris Korologos, former US Ambassador to Belgium and Honorary Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The American College of Greece, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the age of 91.

He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and his master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of Journalism, where he was awarded the Grantland Rice and Pulitzer Scholarships. In 2003, he received an honorary doctorate in Humanities from the University of Utah.

His Greek ancestry largely influenced his political career. Notably, he established the annual celebration of Greek Independence Day in the White House, in the presence of the Archbishop of America and other Greek dignitaries.

At The American College of Greece, Tom served as the Chair of the Board of Trustees from 1985 to 1991 and was honored with a Doctor of Laws degree in 1989. In recognition of his exceptional service, he also received the Medal for Distinguished Service from The American College of Greece in 1991 and was later honored with the title, Chair Emeritus.

Along with his family, he exemplified a remarkable tradition of voluntary leadership at The American College of Greece.

In 1997, he and his children established two scholarships in loving memory of his late wife, Joy G. Korologos – one for entering Deree students and the other for continuing Deree students.

The ACG community thanks Tom C. Korologos for his significant contributions and extends heartfelt condolences to his family.

Dr. David G. Horner, ACG President, will attend the funeral. In honor of his memory, The American College of Greece will fly its flags at half-mast for three days and make a donation to a new scholarship established in his name.
