Daphne Mourelou

BSc Political Science, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki; Dance, Rallou Manou Professional Dance School; MA Political Science and Sociology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Daphne Mourelou has been a teacher of contemporary dance, ballet, choreography, and dance history at several schools, while she has also worked as a freelance performer. She has been a member of the Deree Dance Department since 2016, currently teaching ballet.

In 2013, she joined the PICS group as a researcher for the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) under the subject of Gendered Aspects of Greek Contemporary Dance Criticism. Her academic interests revolve around dance history, sociology of dance, dance education, and pedagogy.

Currently, she is a PhD candidate at the NKUA under the subject of Aspects of Professional Dance Education in Greece: The State School of Dance and the Professional Dance School of the Greek National Opera.
