Meet May’s Sustainability Face: The Deree Economics Society
The Deree Economics Society actively promotes sustainability through initiatives that connect economic thinking with real-world impact. Through their involvement in sustainability-focused activities, the Society demonstrates how collective action can positively contribute to environmental responsibility and community engagement.
As the Society shares, “Sustainability begins where individual choices become collective outcomes.” This mindset is reflected throughout their initiatives both within and beyond the ACG community.
Throughout the academic year, members of the Society have participated in activities such as beach clean-up actions that support environmental protection while raising awareness within the wider community.
The Society has also been actively involved in the Boroume at the Farmers’ Market initiative, powered by ACG. Through this participation, members support local producers while promoting more sustainable consumption habits and strengthening the connection between community, economy, and environmental responsibility.
By integrating sustainability into economic dialogue, the Deree Economics Society aims to demonstrate “how markets, policies, and individual choices shape long-term environmental and social outcomes. As a student-led organization, we are committed to fostering responsible behavior and active engagement in sustainability both on campus and beyond.”
Through their collective efforts, the Deree Economics Society demonstrates how sustainability becomes stronger when knowledge, action, and community come together!
