At The American College of Greece (ACG), sustainability isn’t just an idea—it’s a core principle embraced by our community. Our Sustainability Face of the Month series highlights ACG members who embody sustainable living and inspire change through their actions and involvement in ACG-led activities on and off campus.
Meet May’s Sustainability Face: Eirini Zachakou
Eirini Zachakou is a senior Deree student majoring in Communication, wth minors in Marketing and Leadership. For the past five years, she has been an active ACG Sustainability Leader, contributing to a wide range of volunteer activities and campus campaigns.
For Eirini, sustainability is all about intentionality and consistency.
“I believe that small, consistent actions, like carrying your own water bottle, can lead to a big impact. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about showing up with care every day,” she says.
Here is how she brings that mindful mindset into life:
From carrying a reusable water bottle and recycling to supporting local, ethical brands, avoiding overconsumption and choosing products with sustainable packaging, Eirini integrates eco-conscious habits into her daily life, on and off campus.
At Deree, she has taken on leadership roles that promote community well-being, inclusion, and environmental responsibility, all key sustainability values. Even in the classroom, she finds ways to incorporate sustainability into her projects and decision-making.
Eirini also enjoys working out and walking outdoors—activities that keep her both active, connected to nature, and mindful of her environmental impact.
At ACG, we proudly feature members of the ACG Community, students, faculty, and staff, who lead sustainable lives on campus and beyond and inspire our community.
Because ACG Cares!
