Deree Celebrates Inaugural Minor Certificate Ceremony for Parallel Students

On Monday, July 1, Deree College celebrated a significant milestone with its first Minor Certificate Ceremony, held at the Aghia Paraskevi campus. This event marked the achievements of 256 students in the unique Parallel Studies Program. This program, exclusive to Deree, allows Greek public university students to supplement their studies with additional courses at Deree, thereby enhancing their academic credentials and international career prospects. The students pursued a diverse range of 40 minors, including fields such as Psychology, Business Administration, and Computer Science, among others.

The ceremony spotlighted students from diverse academic fields, including Law, Economics, Engineering, and Medicine. These students have utilized Deree’s expansive curriculum, which boasts 38 majors and 61 minors, to augment their primary studies with minors aimed at broadening their expertise and enhancing their career opportunities.

Lucy Kanatsoulis, Dean of Enrollment and International Studies and the ceremony’s MC, introduced ACG President Dr. David G. Horner and Georgios Koltiris, the student speaker who shared his personal experiences and the program’s transformative impact.

The program’s success is largely due to Deree’s flexible class schedules, the seamless integration of credits applicable at both institutions and the affordability enhanced by generous scholarships, notably from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. This support is essential, enabling many students to afford their education and opportunities to study abroad.

The event also highlighted the program’s global reach, with students representing prestigious institutions such as the National Technical University of Athens, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Polytecnico di Torino, and Bangor University. This diversity reflects the program’s appeal across national boundaries.

Deree’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and cross-cultural collaboration shines through the Parallel Studies Program, positioning it as a distinguished pathway for students seeking to enhance their educational experience with a dual-degree option.

Congratulations to all graduates for their outstanding achievements!
