The American College of Greece, along with Chatzigakis Foundation, organized the day conference “Sustainability: The Future is Now”, on Tuesday, June 7th,2022, at the ACG premises.
Sustainable Development and the Circular Economy, with an emphasis on small & medium-sized enterprises of the fashion industry and other key environmental issues starred in the discussions, held during this interactive conference, under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, on the occasion of the World Environment Day (5/6).
ACG Senior Sustainability Manager Ms. Rania Assariotaki mentioned that “We were happy and honored to welcome on campus and engage in panel discussions with esteemed and inspiring professionals, business partners, and friends from businesses, NGOs, and academia on the topics of sustainability and circular economy. It was very impactful to witness how Greek SMEs operating in the fashion industry have been promoting sustainable best practices. As a responsible academic institution educating the “leaders of tomorrow”, The American College of Greece has joined forces with Chatzigakis Foundation, a public-benefit foundation that shares the same philosophy in further enhancing the public dialogue and awareness on a topic of both local and global concern”, in her opening remarks.
Many students, guests, ACG faculty & staff and alumni attended the event, with 3 interesting panels by 13 experts, covering the current trends on sustainability, circularity in economy and zero waste fashion.
The conference ended with an innovative fashion show by Deree students, wearing creations of Maison Faliakos, 3QUARTERS and EF93, companies that embrace sustainable practices.
The event was sponsored by Nespresso – a BCorp certified organization – and Yum Tales, companies that follow sustainable practices and promote similar initiatives, while Aveda Greece offered vegan products as symbolic gifts to the participants.
