10 Years of Graphic Design at Deree: A Decade of Creativity Celebrated

The Department of Arts and Creative Industries (ACI) at Deree – The American College of Greece marked the 10th anniversary of its Graphic Design program with a weeklong celebration at the Demos Center (Ipitou 17B, Plaka). The anniversary program featured a Retrospective Exhibition and a two-day Symposium that traced the evolution of design from 2015 to today. It brought together educators, professionals, students, and alumni for a vibrant reflection on a decade of creativity and forward-thinking design education.

Day 1 of the Symposium explored shifts in trends, technologies, and priorities across graphic design, advertising, typography, and printing. Highlights included the workshop “Innovation Remix: Design Thinking + Generative AI”, which examined how creative processes intersect with emerging tools, and a keynote by Agne Katzouraki, a leading figure in post-war Greek graphic design.

Day 2 of the Symposium looked ahead to the future, examining how artificial intelligence, immersive media, and next-generation digital tools are reshaping creative practice, education, and the design industry. The program featured the workshop “Next-Gen Tools for Designers: Unlocking Creativity in Immersive Worlds” and a keynote by Vouvoula Skoura, inviting participants to envision the evolving role of design in a technology-driven world.

Complementing the discussions, a Student Exhibition (Oct 10–18) showcased outstanding work from past and current students, underscoring ACI’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovation, dialogue, and excellence in visual communication.
