BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics

BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics

In our rapidly changing world in which the disciplines of medicine and healthcare are of increasing relevance, a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics is exceptionally important and in high demand.

Scientists in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics understand how food and nutrients are digested, absorbed, metabolized, and utilized by the human body, and investigate the effects of nutrient deficiencies and excesses to prevent and treat disease. They draw on knowledge from the fields of psychology, sociology, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, food science, and public health to understand the biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors that influence food choices, dietary behaviors, and health outcomes.

Nutrition and Dietetics incorporates diverse approaches, from the study of biochemical pathways to nutritional assessment and counselling, clinical nutrition and dietetics, food science, microbiology, safety and technology, and food service management. It also encompasses observing population intake and its relationship to health outcomes through nutritional epidemiology, designing and testing nutrition interventions to improve health at the individual and community level, and managing nutrition programs and policies to ensure access to nutritious food.

The BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics at The American College of Greece is designed to provide students with a broad and integrated foundation in all key areas of nutritional sciences and dietetics, combining fundamental scientific knowledge with applied and professional education.  It offers a foundation for graduates to pursue professional employment in relevant areas of Nutrition and Dietetics and/or further postgraduate study.
