150 Years. One Legacy. The Story of The American College of Greece.

The American College of Greece commemorated its 150th anniversary with the premiere of the documentary Mission Sunny Days: From Smyrna to Modern Athens at Danaos Cinema on Friday, December 12. The event opened with remarks by President Dr. Edward C. Wingenbach and Dr. Demetra Papaconstantinou, College Archivist, who reflected on the institution’s rich history and enduring mission. Proceeds from the screening were donated to the Pierce Scholarship Fund, reaffirming the College’s enduring commitment to supporting future generations.

Directed and produced by Natasha Blatsiou, with narration and texts by Maya Tsocli, the documentary draws on extensive material from ACG’s archives and historical footage provided by co-producer ERT. The film traces the institution’s evolution from its founding in Smyrna in 1875 through pivotal moments of modern Greek history and underscores its longstanding commitment to educational excellence and social contribution.

Mission Sunny Days embodies the core values of The American College of Greece—service, resilience, innovation and inclusion—captured in its enduring motto, Non ministrari sed ministrare. Through powerful storytelling and personal testimonies, the documentary reaffirms the College’s legacy as one defined by purpose, resilience, and the transformative power of education.
