Overview

metamorφosis II – Deepening the Practice invites participants to an immersive exploration of embodied performance, guided by actress and performer Evelina Arapidi, in dynamic collaboration with choreographer Ilias Bageorgos, whose movement perspective enriches the ensemble’s expressive range and opens new avenues for creative exploration.

Rooted in the concept of performance as ritual transformation, the workshop transforms the stage into a living laboratory where body, voice, and breath awaken presence, imagination, and collective energy. At its core, the metamorφosis method, developed by Arapidis, activates the dialogue between breath, voice, and movement, guiding participants toward authentic expression and transformative performance.

The training draws inspiration from psychophysical theatre traditions associated with Tadashi Suzuki and Theodoros Terzopoulos, while engaging Bageorgos’ choreographic perspective, incorporating contemporary movement techniques such as release, improvisation, and the Yellow Groove practice.

Building on the success of the first cycle, which brought together participants from diverse artistic disciplines and cultural backgrounds, metamorφosis II continues to cultivate an intercultural, collaborative environment. Participants contribute their skills and insights, expanding the performative language and deepening the collective exploration. Returning participants form the core ensemble, while new participants are welcomed into the laboratory, culminating in a collective performative presentation.
