Introduction to the Major in International Tourism and Hospitality Management

The International Tourism and Hospitality Management (ITHM) major is designed to provide students with the specialized knowledge and deep understanding required for a career in the international tourism and hospitality industry or to pursue a post-graduate degree in the field.

What You Will Study

Students begin their studies by selecting general education courses during their first year. They attend required and optional courses in their major field according to a structured program. They are exposed to a wide variety of tourism and hospitality theories and concepts. ITHM students have the opportunity to link academic theory to industry practice early in their studies through internship placement, an integral component of the ITHM curriculum.

Career/Graduate Study Opportunities

ITHM graduates are well equipped to pursue employment in any sector of the international tourism and hospitality industry, including accommodation (hotels, cruises), attractions (galleries, museums, amusement parks), transportation (airlines, airports), travel organizations (travel agencies, tour operators), and other services (conference halls, congress organizers). ITHM graduates will be able to work in management, marketing, human resources, information technology for tourism, public relations and communications, accounting and finance and operations positions.
