At The American College of Greece (ACG), sustainability isn’t just an idea—it’s a core principle embraced by our community. Our Sustainability Face of the Month series highlights ACG members who embody sustainable living and inspire change through their actions and involvement in ACG-led activities on and off campus.
Meet March’s Sustainability Face: Elpida Tzemari
Elpida is a Parallel Studies student at Deree and the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). Passionate about learning, sustainability, and contributing to environmental and social causes, she has been an active volunteer in the Farmers’ Market initiative with Boroume since the Fall Semester of 2024.
She is currently pursuing a minor in Sustainable Economics & Finance at Deree while majoring in Political Science & Public Administration at NKUA. Her passion for sustainability and ESG led her to explore the intersection of economics, finance, and environmental responsibility.
One of her biggest passions is participating in organizations with environmental and social missions. In addition to Boroume’s “Farmers’ Market” volunteer initiative powered by ACG, she has been involved with Ithaca, iSea, Oloi Mazi Boroume, and Alma Zois.
“I’m truly inspired by how people can come together, combine their efforts, and achieve remarkable results!” The sense of solidarity and the opportunity to learn about the challenges our planet and society face are both fascinating and essential. Understanding these issues helps raise awareness and empowers us to become the change we want to see in the world”, Elpida notes.
Beyond incorporating sustainability into her academic journey and social impact initiatives, Elpida tries to reduce her environmental footprint by making eco-conscious choices in her daily life. She recycles, composts food, tries to minimize food waste, and always carries her reusable water bottle.
At ACG, we celebrate students like Elpida who dedicate their time and energy, even between classes, to making a difference in the community, both on and off campus.
Because ACG Cares!
