The American College of Greece celebrated the success of its first-ever Graduate Career Forum held from January 24-26, marking a historic collaboration between Alba Graduate Business School and Deree Graduate School. The event, under the name ACG Graduate Careers+, is set to become an annual tradition, bringing together two esteemed graduate schools in a joint effort to enrich the academic experience and promote success for all stakeholders.
The forum addressed the challenges and opportunities in the ever-evolving landscape of employment. Focused on bridging the gap between talent and opportunity, the initiative aims to guide students toward roles that align with their aspirations and talents while providing companies access to a diverse pool of skilled individuals. The Career Forum was heralded as a conduit for synergy, where aspirations converge and opportunities flourish, reflecting the commitment to the holistic development of the academic community.
Dimitris Megremis, Director of Career Services, succinctly expressed the central theme of the Graduate Career Forum when he said: “As we embark on this collective endeavor, let us reaffirm our commitment to nurturing talent, fostering meaningful connections, and facilitating pathways to success. Together, we stand as advocates for our students, empowering them to navigate the complexities of the professional world with confidence and competence. Simultaneously, we extend our hand in partnership to companies, offering them access to a diverse pool of talent cultivated through rigorous academic pursuits and real-world experiences.”
The results of the first postgraduate Career Forum were impressive. 166 recruiters from of 80 companies from a wide range of industries, met 109 graduate students, completing more than 800 interviews.
During the 2024 Graduate Career Forum, graduate students actively engaged in a variety of career-enhancing activities. Participants had the opportunity to explore and secure interview slots with numerous organizations through the Career Portal. The event emphasized early preparation for success, encouraging students to polish their CVs, align LinkedIn profiles, and craft Elevator Pitch presentations.
In addition to in-person and virtual interviews during the three days, participants attended a Networking Cocktail on January 24 and 25 for informal interactions between organizations and graduates. The forum provided a platform for students to navigate pre-scheduled interviews, connect with diverse industries, and unlock a world of networking, insights, and career options, emphasizing the collective journey of the Graduate Career Forum as the secret sauce to success.
From her end, the Senior Vice President of Administration & Pierce, Ms. Iliana Lazana, welcomed the joint organization of the postgraduate schools as an important milestone for The American College of Greece while expressing her gratitude to the participating companies “for their continuous support and recognizing the high-caliber graduates of our institution.” Together, she concluded, “we pave the way for exceptional futures!”
