Eurobank Equities supports aspiring students to pursue a Financial Trading minor with two scholarships

ACG Simulated Trading Room

Two young students earned two scholarships in order to pursue a minor in Financial Markets Trading at Deree thanks to the support of Eurobank Equities. The scholarships are donated by Eurobank Equities, which is the first to pave the way for the award of scholarships in this area.

The minor in financial markets trading provides students with the knowledge, strategies, and insights they need to enhance their employability in trading positions in the financial sector. All courses are taught in the ACG Simulated Trading Room (STR), deploying trading software and platforms, notably Bloomberg and the Reuters dealing system installed in the ACG Simulated Trading Room.

The ACG Simulated Trading Room is a state-of-the-art trading room, unique in its kind in the region of Southeastern Europe, operating at ACG since January 2018. The ACG Simulated Trading Room provides a real sense of technological sophistication, bringing financial markets to the students’ fingertips through cutting-edge software and hardware.

The identity, legacy and mission of The American College of Greece, as a not-for-profit institution, are inextricably linked with the support of academically promising young people who always strive for more, yet have limited financial means. For the academic year 2019-2020, more than 3,250 students, about 50% of all students from all ACG units (Pierce, Deree, Alba), received financial assistance, an increase of 600% compared to 2010.

Eurobank Equities CEO, Theodore Fragkopoulos, commented: “Eurobank Equities, by supporting excellence and, fostering, throughout its operation, deep specialization and know how for its executives, wishes, through these scholarships, to give the opportunity to two students to access the high-quality education offered by Deree, in the field of investment. We believe that the market bodies have the obligation to support capable, aspiring young people who will constitute tomorrow’s executive human resource.”

For her part, Dr. Annie Triantafyllou, Dean of the School of Business and Economics at Deree, stated: “A big thank you to the people of Eurobank Equities for their generous contribution in shaping the financial sector’s future professionals and the promotion of financial literacy in Greece.”
