Call for Applications: Women Graduate Students and Postdocs in Energy Leadership Workshop

“Leading the energy transition to a net zero carbon world will require technical innovations but also leaders to implement the necessary changes,”— Dr. Angeliki Artemis (Diane) Rigos, MIT faculty, ACG alumna.

In a bold initiative to empower women in the fields of science, technology, engineering, math, and medicine (STEMM), ACG is pleased to announce a collaborative effort with Epistimi, Inc., a nonprofit founded by Dr. Angeliki Artemis (Diane) Rigos, MIT faculty and ACG alumna. This partnership aims to address the critical need for leadership training among women in STEMM, particularly those working in the energy sector.

Recognizing the urgency of cultivating leaders for the global transition to a net-zero carbon world, Epistimi, Inc., with generous funding from the Henry Luce Foundation, is offering a one-week leadership workshop. The event, named the Epistimi-ACG Leadership Workshop, is scheduled to take place from July 15 to 19, 2024, on the picturesque campus of The American College of Greece in Athens.

Twenty-five women graduate students and postdocs working in energy will be selected to receive scholarships funded by the Luce Foundation so they can develop their leadership competencies and form a global network. Scholarships include workshop tuition, accommodations, limited meals, and a travel stipend.

Dr. Rigos, a highly accomplished individual, holds degrees in chemistry and physical chemistry from Cornell University and MIT, respectively, along with an MBA from Northeastern University, and has devoted her career to teaching and leadership in STEMM fields, notably contributing to the establishment of leadership programs like the AWIS Leadership Program in 2018 and the MIT LEAPS Program in 2019. Dr. Rigos’ MIT LEAPS course, “Developing Your Leadership Competencies,” will serve as the cornerstone of the workshop, offering a comprehensive curriculum to enhance leadership skills and foster a global network of like-minded professionals.
