Dr. Nikolaos Pitropakis is an accomplished cybersecurity expert and academic, currently serving as an Associate Professor at Hellenic American College, where he leads the Cybersecurity Research Lab at ACG. He also holds the position of Visiting Associate Professor at Edinburgh Napier University, contributing to teaching and research at an international level.

Dr. Pitropakis began his academic journey with a BSc in Informatics and Telecommunications from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He subsequently earned an MSc in Advanced Information Systems from the Athens University of Economics and Business, followed by a PhD in Digital Systems Security from the University of Piraeus.

Prior to joining ACG, Dr. Pitropakis accumulated extensive experience in cybersecurity education and research across leading academic institutions. His previous roles include Associate Professor and Head of Department at Edinburgh Napier University, Lecturer at London South Bank University, and Postdoctoral Researcher in Cybersecurity at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

His research portfolio spans several critical and emerging areas, including adversarial machine learning, trust and privacy in distributed ledger technologies, cyber‑attack attribution, and the application of data science techniques in cybersecurity. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Dr. Pitropakis has also served as Lead External Examiner for the MSc in Cyber Security at Northumbria University.

With over 90 peer‑reviewed scholarly publications and multiple prestigious academic awards, Dr. Pitropakis has made significant contributions to international research and innovation. He has actively participated in major funded initiatives under H2020, Horizon Europe, and the European Defence Fund (EDF). In addition, he plays a leading role in the global cybersecurity community through the organization of major international conferences and his service as an editor for leading academic journals.
