Dimitris Grigoriadis, PhD, studied Informatics Engineering (BSc) at the Technological Educational Institute of Crete. He completed an MSc in Information Technologies in Medicine and Biology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a PhD in Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Thessaly, with a thesis on machine learning algorithms for large-scale transcriptomic and genetic data. He has worked as a bioinformatics scientist and postdoctoral researcher at the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, as a bioinformatics scientist at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and as a software engineer/bioinformatics scientist at Genekor Medical S.A., where he received the Bioinformatics Excellence Award in 2026. He has also taught undergraduate computer science courses at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Dimitris is currently a Research Fellow at The University of Texas at Austin, where he builds knowledge graphs and semantic search tools for public genomic data. He is the founder of Daily Academic, an AI platform that delivers personalised literature feeds from more than 3,000 journals, and the lead developer of the Public Omics Explorer. His work has been published in Nucleic Acids Research, BMC Bioinformatics, the Computational and Structural Biotechnology Journal and IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing. He serves on the Editorial Board of BMC Bioinformatics. His current research focuses on machine learning and semantic retrieval for large-scale biomedical data.
