Dr. Christos Sigalas joined the Management Department at Deree – The American College of Greece in 2016 where he teaches courses in the areas of Maritime Financial Management, Strategic Management, and Shipbroking and Chartering He has extensive teaching experience, having taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Piraeus in the areas of Maritime Investment Appraisals, Maritime Financing, and Financial Analysis in Shipping and as a faculty member at Piraeus University of Applied Sciences (formerly Technological Institute of Piraeus) where he taught courses in the areas of Business Strategy, Administration of Accounting Department, Management of Small and Medium Enterprises, Management Information Systems, Research Methodology for Business Executives, Accounting Applications & Practices, Object Oriented Programming, Computer Science, and Structure Computer Programming

His research interests include strategic management, corporate finance, management accounting and maritime financial management. He has contributed 21 manuscripts in academic journals, journals for practitioners, book chapters, conferences proceedings and economic press. Following the award of the PhD, he has published six papers in refereed academic journals and one article as a chapter in a practitioners’ book. One of his papers has received the 2014 Highly Commended Paper Award by Emerald for publishing in Journal of Strategy and Management.

He serves as Director of the Board in eleven ship-owning companies, in a ship management company and in a shipbroking company, subsidiaries of Seanergy Maritime Holding Corp.; a ship owning company listed in the NASDAQ capital market.
