About the Event
Creative Collaborators of Sofia Coppola, Denis Villeneuve and Spike Jonze, Oscar award winner Patrice Vermette, production designer of Arrival (2016) and Dune (2021), and Oscar–nominated K.K. Barrett, production designer of Marie Antoinette (2006), and Her (2013), join us at ACG for a discussion on the role of production design in shaping the look of a film and share insights about their work and design process.

About the speakers
K.K. Barrett, Production Designer
KK Barrett is known for designing a diverse collection of films from Lost in Translation and Marie Antoinette for which he was nominated for a BAFTA) with Sofia Coppola, to Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Where the Wild Things Are and HER (for which he was nominated for an Oscar) with Spike Jonze.
He has also worked with David O. Russell on I Heart Huckabee’s, Michel Gondry on Human Nature, and played in the DC super universe with Harley Quinn / Bird’s of Prey.
Patrice Vermette, Production Designer
Patrice Vermette is a Canadian production designer/art director known for his long-term collaboration with Denis Villeneuve. He is most noted for his work on the films Dune, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Production Design at the 94th Academy Awards and C.R.A.Z.Y., for which he won both the Genie Award for Best Art Direction/Production Design at the 26th Genie Awards and the Jutra Award for Best Art Direction at the 8th Jutra Awards. His credits include films like: Arrival, Sicario, Prisoners, Dune: Part Two.
