The American College of Greece and the Office of Athletics & Recreation Launch Collaboration with the Hellenic Baseball Softball Federation

The American College of Greece, through the Office of Athletics & Recreation, is pleased to announce a new collaboration with the Hellenic Baseball Softball Federation (HBSF) aimed at promoting and developing the sports of Baseball, Softball, and Baseball5 in Greece.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment to advancing athletic participation, education through sport, and community engagement.

Baseball and softball – sports deeply connected to American athletic tradition – also embody the values of teamwork, discipline, and excellence, while holding an important place in the global Olympic movement, having been reinstated in the program of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Within the framework of this collaboration, ACG and the Hellenic Baseball Softball Federation will work together to introduce educational and athletic activities that familiarize students with these sports through experiential learning opportunities, while also contributing to the broader development of baseball and softball in Greece.

The cooperation will focus on several key areas:

  • Use of Athletic Facilities: Selected athletic facilities of The American College of Greece may be utilized for training sessions, competitions, seminars, and development activities related to Baseball, Softball, and Baseball5.
  • Coaching and Educational Support: The Hellenic Baseball Softball Federation will contribute certified coaches and specialized personnel to support training programs, athletic instruction, and educational initiatives aligned with international standards.
  • Community and Recreational Programs: The partnership will also seek to introduce recreational and lifelong sports activities open to members of the ACG community and the wider public, encouraging participation and awareness of these globally recognized sports.

As part of this initiative, Pierce – The American College of Greece will introduce students to Baseball, Softball, and Baseball5 through activities designed to familiarize them with the fundamental skills, rules, and culture of these internationally recognized sports.

The program aims to strengthen students’ athletic education and active participation in physical activity, while also developing essential life skills such as cooperation, discipline, leadership, and respect. It further seeks to cultivate healthy competition, teamwork, and self-confidence, introduce students to sports practiced worldwide, and create potential pathways for athletic development, including opportunities for talented students to progress and potentially contribute to national teams.

The program will be implemented in two primary ways:

  • through introductory activities incorporated into the Physical Education curriculum
  • through additional training sessions held on Saturdays at the ACG East Campus.

These sessions will be conducted by certified coaches and technical staff of the Hellenic Baseball Softball Federation, with a strong emphasis on safety, sound pedagogical practices, and a positive sporting experience for all participants.

Through this partnership, The American College of Greece continues to strengthen its mission of integrating education, athletics, and cultural exchange, while providing meaningful opportunities for students and the wider community to engage with sports that promote teamwork, excellence, and international collaboration.
