Deree – The American College of Greece, with its long-standing tradition of athletic excellence, proudly announces the introduction of the “Deree Major Athletic Distinction Scholarships” for the 2025–26 academic year.
We are delighted to announce and warmly congratulate our student Dimitrios Economo, World Champion in Kickboxing, who has been named the very first recipient of one of the Deree Major Athletic Distinction Scholarships!
His exceptional achievement embodies the values of excellence, perseverance, and integrity that Deree seeks to honor through this new initiative – and we look forward to many more outstanding student-athletes following in his path!
In recognition of our student-athletes’ extraordinary accomplishments and their dedication to both athletic and academic excellence, Deree will offer up to ten (10) new “Major Athletic Distinction” scholarships, each covering 20% of tuition.
These scholarships aim to support highly talented student-athletes across various sports as they pursue academic success within Deree’s highly demanding and internationally accredited academic environment, while also celebrating their remarkable distinctions earned during the previous academic year.
Applications for the Deree Major Athletic Distinction Scholarships may be submitted annually between September 1 and September 20 (using the application form provided online). Each application must refer to distinctions achieved between September 1 and August 31 of the immediately preceding academic year.
With the introduction of these new awards, Deree now offers a total of eighty-five (85) athletic scholarships – including the existing seventy-five (75) sport-specific athletic scholarships and the new ten (10) Major Athletic Distinction Scholarships, each covering 20% of tuition.
This initiative reaffirms Deree’s steadfast commitment to promoting excellence in both academics and athletics. By recognizing and supporting student-athletes who achieve distinction at the highest levels of competition, Deree continues to cultivate the spirit of discipline, leadership, and resilience that defines our community.
