Dr. M. Adamopoulou holds a BA in Microbiology and an MS in Molecular Biology from Southern Illinois University, USA, along with a PhD in Molecular Biology of Oncogenic Viruses from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School. Research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of various cancers associated with human papillomavirus (HPV), oncogenes, and other non-infectious biomarkers. Additional interests include the study of DNA polymorphisms and their role in the development of human diseases.

Academic contributions include participation in 14 research projects, 36 peer-reviewed publications in international journals, and 24 authored book chapters in educational texts. Extensive experience in higher education involves teaching and course organization.

Professional roles include serving as a scientific consultant for the Hellenic Ministry of Health, a board member of Hellenic National Blood Transfusion Center (EKEA), the National Authority of Medically Assisted Reproduction, and Greece’s Biovigilance Representative at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety.
