Dr. Leonardos Mageiros holds a PhD in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and serves as an Assistant Professor in Information Technology and Biomedical Sciences. He completed his undergraduate studies in Computer Science in Athens in 2009 and subsequently moved to the Netherlands to pursue postgraduate studies in Network Security and Bioinformatics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam). He earned his PhD in 2018 from Swansea University, specializing in Clinical Microbiology and Hospital-acquired Infections. Since then, he has worked as a scientific researcher at several universities abroad.

Currently, he is an Assistant Professor, Chair of the Department of Computing and Mathematics and Program Coordinator in the BSc in Bioinformatics at The American College of Greece (ACG). He teaches various Courses related with Computer Science, Cybersecurity and Bioinformatics. His research focuses on a range of bioinformatics topics, including metagenomics, comparative genomics, and genome-wide association studies (GWAS) related to public health.
