Maria Karapatsia

Maria Karapatsia, PhD, is a licensed psychologist specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Crete and a Master of Science in Psychological Approaches to Health from the University of Leeds. She earned her PhD from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), with a focus on behavior therapy and eating disorders. In 2012, she completed her training in CBT at the Institute of Behavioral Research and Therapy (IBRT), followed by intensive DBT training at the Behavioral Tech Institute (BTech) in 2015. She is currently a trainer in training in BTech’s official trainers program. Maria is an active member of the Greek DBT team, serving as an organizer, trainer, and mentor in international DBT trainings held by the DBT division of the Greek Association of Behavioral Research in collaboration with BTech. She also works as a trainer in two e-learning programs at the Centre of Continuing and Lifelong Learning of NKUA, focusing on eating disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and DBT. She has taught extensively on topics related to eating disorders, BPD, and DBT across both public and private institutions in Greece, including the graduate program in Counseling Psychology and Psychotherapy at Deree. Since 2017, she has been a scientific associate at the Eating Disorders Unit and the DBT Unit of the 1st Psychiatric Clinic at Eginition Hospital, NKUA. She has presented at national and international conferences throughout Europe and has contributed to scientific publications and books in her field. In addition to her academic and clinical work, Maria has maintained a private practice for adults in Athens since 2010.
