Ioannis Vetsikas

Information Technology, Cybersecurity and Computer Science

Diploma (5-year degree), Electrical and Computer Engineering, NTUA Greece; MS in Computer Science, Cornell University, USA; PhD in Computer Science, Cornell University USA.

Dr. Vetsikas has been a member of the IT department since 2015. His research interests span Distributed AI, Multi-agent Systems and e-Commerce, as well as game design and development, and game AI. He has published papers in top conferences on AI and multi-agent systems, as well as more recently, in games. Research on intelligent autonomous agents utilizes optimization, game, and decision-theoretic techniques to examine the properties of the resulting multi-agent systems. This approach combines novel strategies and mechanisms with the necessary agent architectures, investigating applications of these techniques in areas such as service procurement and electricity management. He has been involved in the trading agent community, with agents winning the International Trading Agent Competition (TAC) on several occasions. He served as general chair for TAC-10 and TAC-13. More recently, he has examined AI applied to games and game design, extending to gamification and game development through his private company.
