Mission

The Sociology and International Relations and European Affairs (IREA) programs of our department combine a strong, internationally acknowledged scholarship and research record with innovative, research-informed teaching. We host a vibrant academic community specializing in sociology, anthropology, criminology and criminal justice, international relations, and European affairs.

Our programs emphasize both theoretical rigor and practical relevance. They equip students and faculty to make meaningful academic and societal contributions. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students develop independent, critical perspectives on the complexities and significance of sociopolitical and sociocultural phenomena at local, regional, national, and global levels.

Our vision is to be a leading research hub in sociology, anthropology, criminology, international relations, and European affairs—both in Greece and internationally.
