7th CSR School 2025

Dr. Stella Apostolaki, Assistant Professor of Environmental Science at the Department of Science and Mathematics – Deree, and Executive Director of the Centre of Excellence in Sustainability, The American College of Greece (ACG), and Dr. Ioannis Kougkoulos, Assistant Professor of Environmental Science at the Department of Science and Mathematics – Deree & Fellow of the Center of Excellence in Sustainability, participated in the annual CSR School. The program was co-organized by CSR HELLAS, in collaboration with the University of Crete and the Office of Sustainability – Office of Public Affairs, ACG. The CSR School runs from October 2 to December 1, comprising 7 training days, 5 thematic pillars, 19 thematic modules, and a total of 56 training hours, and aims to promote systemic collaboration among businesses operating both in Greece and abroad, with a conscious awareness of the needs of future generations.

During the 3rd Day of the CSR School 2025 that took place on October 9, Dr. Stella Apostolaki highlighted the vital role of nature in shaping sustainable business models. Using practical examples, Dr. Apostolaki explored the connection between biodiversity and business resilience, demonstrating how companies can thrive by protecting and restoring natural ecosystems.

Dr Ioannis Kougkoulos, in conversation with Mrs. Margarita Gkamaletsou, Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs at EYDAP, discussed water as a critical natural resource and highlighted best practices for its effective management, protection, and sustainable use through collaboration among science, society and the business community.

These insightful presentations by Dr. Stella Apostolaki and Dr. Ioannis Kougkoulos reminded participants that nature should be regarded as a fundamental component within every company’s value chain.
