Effie Anastasiou is a member of the Accounting and Finance faculty and has taught across the curriculum in courses such as Managerial and Cost Accounting, Financial Planning and Control, and Financial Management.
Effie’s studies include an MSc from the London School of Economics and a PhD from the University of Derby. Her PhD research focused on accounting education. Her other area of interest is in cost accounting, where she has also worked as a financial advisor for a steel construction company.
Effie served as Head of the Accounting and Finance Department from 2008 to 2012 and was a valued member of the team, which steered the Department during the OU validation. During her headship, she also initiated the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Business Consulting project in collaboration with Greg Waller, a VCU faculty member. She has held the position of Program Coordinator for the Accounting Department from 2018 to 2025. Effie is also proud of having received two “Faculty Awards” for recognition of her services by the DEREE Student Union in 1996-1997 and 2002-2003.
