Athena Tsirimpa

Dr. Athena Tsirimpa is an Assistant Professor at ACG and the Chair of the Department of Maritime Transport and Supply Chain Management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Shipping and Business Administration and an MSc and a PhD in Shipping, Trade and Transport from the University of Aegean. She is a transportation economist and modeler with more than 15 years of undergraduate and graduate teaching experience in the academic fields of transportation systems and logistics at various state and non-state Greek Universities. Her areas of research include travel behavior analysis, transportation demand modeling and simulation, city logistics, transportation resilience and climate change adaptation. She has served as the C.E.O. of the Institute of Shipping and Transport Applications K.M.Lo (IN.ST.A.L. S.A.) (2009-2011), and she is a co-founder of MOBY X, a start-up located in Cyprus that develops transportation-related software solutions and performs data analytics. She is an active researcher and has participated as principal investigator in several EU and national funded projects such as: CLIMAS, SPINE, GREEN-LOG, EXTREME-XP, MOVE2CCAM, WE-TRANSFORM, HARMONY, MaaS4EU, ENIRISST. As a consultant, she has worked for several reputable private companies and public agencies in the transportation sector, including IBI Group (with offices in Boston, the UK, and Athens) and CERN in Switzerland.
