Ana obtained her PhD in Museum and Gallery Studies from the University of St Andrews (2019) with a thesis titled “Inherent Pedagogies: Critical Approaches to Exhibition Making in the 2000s”. She also holds an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the University of Essex (2012) and a BA in Art History from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City (2008). Her research focuses on contemporary art curation, with a particular interest in decolonial and feminist strategies. Ana has completed research residencies at the Decolonising Arts Institute (UAL) and the Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven, NL). She has contributed to research projects such as EU-LAC Museums, Community Crafts and Cultures, and Shared Island Stories at the School of Art History, University of St Andrews. Before joining Deree, Ana taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of St Andrews and the University of Essex. She is currently co-editing two volumes on transnational island museologies.
