  • To foster a research community in humanities, with emphasis on art history, history, and philosophy, and take initiatives that support the public exposure of ACG as a humanities-centered academic institution.
  • To promote the interdisciplinary nature of humanities and the research collaboration with social sciences, technology, and business studies.

Research Projects - Art History

  • Nicolette Trahoulia, will carry on her work as lead editor of a book with essays, to which she has contributed the introduction and an essay.
  • In collaboration with two international artists, Christos Asomatos, has been in contact with a German art institution for the organization of a group art exhibition in 2025-2026.
  • A lecture by a professional curator-director of a contemporary Greek art gallery to be organized in Fall 2025

Research Projects - History

  • In the context of the Hellenic Studies Seminar series in Fall 2025-Spring 2026, invited lectures to be organized by the Institute of Hellenic Studies.
  • Alicia Simpson, has presented a paper at the Late Antique and Byzantine Seminar, in the University of Oxford, 21 May 2025. She will also organize a Workshop on“UrbanCenters in the Medieval Balkans” with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in late Spring 2026.
  • The inauguration of a Digital Exhibition ‘Imagining Greece’ on the role of tourism in branding the country in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism to be organized.
  • Eirini Karamouzi co-directs an AHRC network grant on global anti-nuclear activism and a Laskaridis-funded project on US-Greek relations in the Metapolitefsi, 1974-2024. She also works on a project on the historical role of tourism in Greece’s nation-branding, supported by the Onassis Foundation.
  • Research grant has been received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the role of the Diaspora in Greek-American relations.-
  • Metaxia Papageorgiou will act as an organizing committee member for the 9th Symposium on Archaeometry, help coordinate educational workshops, and assist with fundraising efforts for awards aimed at supporting young researchers.
  • Faculty members will present papers at International Conferences, in the areas of Late Antique and Byzantine History, heritage science, Antisemitism, and History of American foreign relations.
  • Eleni Drakaki will engage with original research, specifically with the study for publication of two groups of Bronze Age seals from surveys and excavations conducted in Crete the Greek Mainland.

Research Projects - Philosophy

  • Ioanna Patsioti, co-organized with the International Society for Neoplatonic Studies(ISNS), the Annual Conference in Athens, 18-21 June 2025, at which she presented a paper on the Platonic and Neoplatonist conception of leadership.
  • She will serve as co-Editor of the Conference Anthology for selected peer-reviewed papers in 2025-2026.
  • Ioanna Patsioti is also working on a joint project on an integrated ethical framework on Aristotle and Confucius and its applicability in leadership and organizational behavior. Two of the members come from Universities in China and one more member from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She presented online part of the work at the IACMR Biennial Conference in China, on 15 June, 2025.
  • Thomas Giourgas participates in the AiTHERION project, which fosters technology-driven cultural experiences on ancient Greek philosophy. It was developed by the Ministry of Culture and the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos.” It hosts interactive exhibitions, educational programs for schools, talks and special events, experimental art events through synergies with the Athens Conservatoire and in general serve as a Hub for public dialogue.
  • Application has been submitted by a group of faculty members (from the Humanities Department and other Departments) for the project VISIBLE, whose main objective is to make vulnerable and marginalized groups visible to climate risk assessments, towards informing and implementing suitable adaptation solutions that reduce the identified vulnerabilities, address biases, and increase the communities ‘ resilience.
  • Meleni Arouh will contribute a chapter on Slasher Aesthetics to an anthology of papers.
  • Alkis Kotsonis has published articles in international journals on the philosophy of education.
  • Faculty members will continue their research and present papers at international conferences in the areas of Greek Philosophy, Character Studies, Organizational Ethics, Philosophy of Education, Philosophical Psychology, Subjectivity and Recognition, and perspective and Perspectivism in Algebraic Quantum Field Theory.
  • Most faculty members will submit papers for peer review in international journals.
