ACG Recognized as a Leader in Sustainable Electronics Procurement for the Third Consecutive Year

The American College of Greece (ACG) has been announced as a 2025 EPEAT Purchase Award winner for its sustainable electronics procurement practices for the third year in a row by the Global Electronics Council (GEC).

GEC is a non-profit organization that manages the EPEAT ecolabel, which allows ACG to efficiently address the lifecycle impacts of the electronics we purchase, including computers, displays, printers, copiers, network equipment, mobile phones, servers, photovoltaic modules, inverters, and televisions.

We use EPEAT in purchasing contracts to require that our vendors only provide electronics that meet strict sustainability criteria. These products are more energy efficient, less toxic, longer-lasting, and easier to recycle than products that do not meet EPEAT criteria, while addressing labor and human rights issues along the entire supply chain. Buying these sustainable products moves us closer to achieving our goal of creating a more sustainable campus and contributing to the broader community with a positive impact.

As a winner, we received a calculation of the environmental and cost benefits associated with our EPEAT registered purchases, as demonstrated in this infographic provided by GEC.

Rania Assariotaki, ACG Sustainability Director, Office of Sustainability – Public Affairs, stated:

This recognition affirms our continued efforts to integrate sustainability into every aspect of campus life — including the technology we use. We’re honored to receive the EPEAT Purchase Award once again and remain committed to advancing sustainable practices that make a real difference.

Because ACG Cares!

About the EPEAT Award

The EPEAT Purchaser Awards recognize excellence in the sustainable procurement of IT products. This year’s ceremony will be held virtually to encourage maximum participation from all GEC stakeholders! We’ll showcase leaders in healthcare, education, government, finance, and other industries as we celebrate the collective impacts institutional purchasers are making in global sustainability.

The Global Electronics Council (GEC) is a mission-driven non-profit launched in 2006 and dedicated to creating a more just and sustainable world. GEC acts as the fulcrum point between the institutional purchasers who buy electronics and the manufacturers who produce them. We support large-scale public and private purchasers with tools and resources. Institutional purchasers leverage their purchasing decisions toward creating a more sustainable and just world by deciding to buy sustainable technology.
